Lam Archives & Hospital History

The Conrad R. Lam Archives & Historical Collections was founded in 1976 by Henry Ford Hospital surgeon emeritus Conrad R. Lam, MD.  Dr. Lam had served at Henry Ford Hospital since 1932, and was its unofficial institutional memory.  Dr. Lam maintained the Archives for 14 years and its current staff carries on his work.

The Archives is responsible for collecting, preserving and providing access to materials which document the history of Henry Ford Hospital, Henry Ford Health System and the sites and institutions which are part of the Health System.

Located at the Health System's One Ford Place building, the collections of the Archives include manuscripts, files, books, publications, photographs, audiovisual materials and artifacts which document health care, medical and surgical practice, nursing service, medical and nursing education, research, employee and community relations, institutional growth and the history of our buildings.

These collections are available for use by Henry Ford Health System staff and employees.  Serious researchers from outside the Health System are also provided access.
