Grieving Children Get New Hope at Healing Heart Camp
When children experience the death of a loved one, often they have difficulty expressing their emotions and understanding the grieving process.

At SandCastles Healing Heart Camp, children are offered a chance to explore their feelings and begin a healthy healing process while enjoying the thrills of swimming, arts and crafts, hayrides and roasting marshmallows around the campfire.

Registration is now open for this year’s camp, which will be held Aug. 24-26 at Camp Tamarack in Ortonville in northern Oakland County. Space is limited to 75 children and teens, ages 5-17. A $35 suggested donation per child is recommended at time of enrollment.

The camp, now in its eighth year, is run by staff from the SandCastles Grief Support Program, a division of the Hospices of Henry Ford Health System. It is co-sponsored by Variety - the Children’s Charity and Mervyn’s.

To register or for more information about SandCastles Healing Hearts Camp, call (313) 874-6881.
