Few diseases have as significant an impact on patients and their families as addiction disorders. Henry Ford Behavioral Health experts know that family, parents or guardians play an important role in the treatment program, and their dedication is the most important factor in successful recovery. We offer support to help children, teens and adults learn how to handle feelings and problems safely, and cope with the issues surrounding intervention, treatment and recovery.
Children's Programs Maplegrove Children's Programs, for children 5 - 18 and their parents or caregivers, are educational and support programs for families who are impacted by substance abuse or mental illness.
Through a series of guided exercises, children learn about addiction, appropriate expression of feelings, safe decision making, that they are not alone and it is not their fault. Parents do the same exercises in order to increase family understanding and communication as they participate in "Parenting for Prevention."
