EyesOn Design Car Show
For more than 25 years, the DIO has sponsored EyesOn Design, an annual international exhibition that celebrates automotive design excellence of the past, present and future. Held on Father’s Day at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan, the show features a new theme each year. A distinguished panel of automotive designers reviews each vehicle entry, awarding top honors to those that exemplify several design criteria.
Friends of Vision Raffle
For more than 20 years, the Friends of Vision have hosted a raffle, with proceeds benefiting the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology. The $100 raffle ticket serves as one admission to the EyesOn Design show in June, where three raffle winners are chosen, with the top winner earning a prize of $10,000. EyesOn Design Awards at The North American International Auto Show
In addition to the summer EyesOn Design car show, the DIO also participates in EyesOn Design Awards at the North American International Auto Show, one of the industry’s most prestigious automotive design shows. Held each year at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan, vehicles are judged by a highly distinguished international panel of automotive designers from various design disciplines, with one production and one concept vehicle being chosen.
Steps for Sight/Marathon
Since 2005, the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology and its “Steps for Sight” fundraising program have been one of the “Run for a Reason” charities in the Detroit Free Press marathon, held in October each year.
