Early Morning Start
It is 8:30 a.m. and I am almost to Boyne Falls, half way through my walk for today. It is going to be a hot one so I started early to get a jump on the heat. But the morning is beautiful and the air is sweet.
I've been carrying a 50-pound backpack with me and a man just pulled over and asked me if I wanted a lift. I said no, I was on a walk from Mackinaw City to West Bloomfield, Michigan. He asked what for and I said, "For recovery!" He looked at me and said, "Well, I am in recovery, too!" He told me his name and I asked what nationality that was and he said he was Ukranian. I smiled and said I was Ukranian too! We talked for a while, he offered me a donation and wished me luck.
It is going to be one long, hot day but when you meet special people like that along the way, you know you're on the right path!
