Henry Ford Health System Administrative Fellowship
The Henry Ford Health System Administrative Fellowship experience is an extraordinary learning and development opportunity for Masters-level graduates of health care administration or business programs.
Fellowship Structure Henry Ford offers four system-wide administrative fellowships that last 12 months. Fellows are assigned to a senior leader (preceptor) in one of the following areas:
Health Alliance Plan
Henry Ford Medical Group
Henry Ford Hospital
Henry Ford Community Hospitals
Fellows are strongly encouraged to explore other areas of the health system through project work, informal mentoring, retreats, meetings and other learning opportunities. System preceptors are selected based on their achievement, ability, and commitment to the mentorship role. Additional support is available to fellows through the Fellowship Program Coordinator and Fellowship Director.
Fellowship Progression Orientation
Meet with senior leaders from all business units around the system
Establish relationships with senior leaders and identify projects of interest
Begin to learn about the interrelationships between the diverse elements of the System
Projects
Fellows are quickly invited to participate in numerous meaningful and challenging projects, which facilitate personal learning and development
Fellows continuously engage in both structured and unstructured learning opportunities
Meetings To enhance the learning experience, fellows are given the unique opportunity to meet monthly to discuss emerging trends and issues in healthcare and individual professional development with the following system leaders:

Completion
Although post-fellowship employment is not guaranteed, many former fellows have joined the Henry Ford team, and several have assumed significant leadership positions within the System
Projects The Henry Ford administrative fellowship emphasizes learning through action and interaction. Fellows are assigned diverse and meaningful projects. Past fellow projects have included:
Interim administrator role
Geographic market expansion plan for Health Alliance Plan (HAP) networks
Development of urgent care strategy
LEAN OR efficiency project
System-wide retail access strategy
Operational transition of acquired facilities
Development of health promotion program for community organization
Behavioral Health budget preparation
Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital Diagnostic Center & Medical Office Building planning
Development of the Henry Ford Hospital emergency operations plan
Strategic planning for Pediatrics and Women's Health Services
Clinical portfolio review for Henry Ford Medical Group

System Contact Center redesign
Project management of several corporate projects and initiatives
