The Henry Ford Psychiatry Residency Training Program offers a unique educational experience for residents interested in leading change and health care reform for the next generation. The Medical Leadership Track focuses on the development of technical and leadership skills in the areas of clinical quality, service excellence, growth and strategic planning, finance and professional growth.
This competitive, two-year program is open to select PGY III residents. Three key training components serve as the foundation of the Medical Leadership Track:
Mentoring relationships with Behavioral Health Services and Henry Ford Health System leaders
Didactic curriculum
The development and completion of a quality improvement project
The first six months of the program are devoted to the development of the mentoring relationships and participation in required didactics. During the next 12 months, the resident participates in the Henry Ford Health System Leadership Academy and completes a quality improvement project. In the final six months, the residents complete the required didactics, prepares a journal club focusing on leadership and health care delivery and presents their quality improvement project at Henry Ford Behavioral Health Services Grand Rounds.
At the completion of this fellowship, the resident will have developed the necessary knowledge and skills to lead change and health care restructuring in the 21st century.
