About the Program

Program Director: Leslie J. Bricker, MD FAAHPM
Program Coordinator: Marie Dube

The Henry Ford Hospital (HFH) Hospice and Palliative Medicine (HPM) fellowship program will accept its first fellow in July, 2009. During this one year fellowship program, each fellow's learning experience will be primarily supervised by both the HFH Palliative Medicine Service (PMS) and the HF Hospice.

The Henry Ford Hospital Palliative Medicine Service (PMS), created in 2000, is an active teaching/consultative service, which rounds on approximately 10-20 patients/day and performs 50-60 consults each month. The Henry Ford Hospice is a large JCAHO-certified hospice program serving patients and families in the greater metropolitan Detroit area with hospital, nursing home, and home-based teams as well as two hospice residences. Together, the HFH PMS and HF Hospice programs will provide each fellowship trainee a rich learning environment for developing expertise in hospice and palliative medicine.

Mission and Vision

The Henry Ford Hospital Palliative Medicine Service combines the art of caring with the science of medicine. Our multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive care to patients and families facing life-challenging illness. The focus of care is on reducing pain and suffering while promoting comfort and quality of life.
