Medical Director of the Clinical Vascular Laboratory
Director of the Henry Ford Vein Centers
I specialize in minimally invasive vascular surgery such as venous disease, endovascular and robotic-assisted aortic surgery, non-invasive vascular testing, and as well as healthcare administration with a focus on clinical utility and cost-effectiveness research.
I am a senior staff vascular surgeon at Henry Ford Hospital and Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, Medical Director of the Clinical Vascular Laboratory, Director of the Henry Ford Vein Centers, and Associate Professor of Surgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine.
I am board certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery, American Board of Surgery in Vascular Surgery, American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) and Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). I am a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
I am a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Brown University with a dual concentration in Biology and Economics. I received my medical degree with Honors from the New York University School of Medicine. I completed General Surgery Residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, and Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. I am a member of the inaugural cohort of the Henry Ford Medical Group Physician Leadership Institute. Currently, I am enrolled in the executive Master’s Business Administration program at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.
As the director of Henry Ford Vein Centers, I develop the multidisciplinary Comprehensive Venous Disease Program at HFHS. In addition, I am the HFH site Principal Investigator for the multicenter ATTRACT Study - Acute Venous Thrombosis: Thrombus Removal with Adjunctive Catheter-Directed Thrombolysis sponsored by the National Institutes of Health/Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NIH/NHLBI). In conjunction with SVS and American Venous Forum (AVF), I am a working group member for the Vascular Quality Initiative, which is a national database collection for varicose vein disease. Recently, I have initiated a Virtual Care Clinic in Vascular Surgery to improve patient access to care, improve efficiency of care, and lower the cost of health care delivery.
As medical director of the Vascular Laboratory, I am involved in the interpretation and quality measurement of the non-invasive studies. I am a question writer and reviewer for the national RVPI examination given by ARDMS. I also oversee the student curriculum for vascular technology school as the Medical Course Director of the Vascular Ultrasound Program at Baker College in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
As an educator, I am a question writer for the third edition of the Vascular Education Self-Assessment Program (VESAP 3), which helps drive improvement in board pass rates for vascular surgery fellows and recertification examinees. I am also a Reviewer for the prestigious Journal of Vascular Surgery, Annals of Vascular Surgery, and Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery. I am a member of American College of Surgeons, Society for Vascular Surgery, Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society, Michigan Vascular Society, Peripheral Vascular Surgical Society, Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, American Venous Forum, and American Medical Association.
My care philosophy is to provide optimal and individualized care of each patient. I strive to provide quality, compassionate, and cost-effective care to patients with vascular disease.
