Department Specific Committees

Ethics Committee

The Henry Ford Hospital Ethics Committee reports to the Clinical Operations Team at HFH. The vision of the Henry Ford Hospital Ethics Committee (HFHEC) is to promote the highest quality ethical standards in healthcare delivery by providing ethical guidance at Henry Ford Hospital (HFH) through case consultation, policy formation, and ethics education, and to have these services readily available to all staff, patients and families, and the community at large.

IMPACT- Congestive Heart Failure Henry Ford West Bloomfield & Detroit Hospital

The Integrated Michigan Patient-Centered Alliance in Care Transitions (I-MPACT) is a BCBS funded quality improvement initiative with the purpose of decreasing heart failure (HF) Patient Readmissions utilizing patient/caregiver involvement. The work of this group is important because involving the patient/caregiver in HF education to improve disease management in the home is a key component in the project.

IMPACT- Skilled Nursing Facility Committee

The IMPACT team works to reduce readmissions and improve transitions for patients that are transferred from the hospital to Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs). The Patient Advisors on this committee provide much needed input from a patient/caregiver perspective on any projects or interventions our group creates to improve transitions to Skilled Nursing Facilities.

System Patient Education Council

This Council works to streamline patient education across the system and was previously approved by Henry Ford leadership. The goal of this council is to streamline patient education by reviewing all requests and stamping acceptable education material to be distributed throughout the health system. The Council consists of about 30 members and includes nurses, social workers, case managers, management from creative services, reps from HAP, directors, etc.

HFH Stroke Transitions of Care Committee

The Transitions of Care (TOC) Committee benefits from having the perspective of a stroke survivor or caregiver on the committee to help understand outcomes that are most meaningful for patients, and how to achieve those. The patient advisor on this committee actively participates in TOC committee meetings and lends their voice and ears for consideration in planning of projects, review of outcomes, etc.  They offer fresh eyes/ perspective on items discussed.

Radiology Customer Experience & Engagement Committee

This committee began because the Radiology Department was seeking ways to improve the customer experience using data from multiple methods. It relates to HFHS patient satisfaction scores and overall engagement of patients and staff. The patient advisor on this committee offers feedback from the survey recipient’s end, such as preferred methods, time of contact, how many times they are contacted, etc.
