Henry Ford Health System Appoints Director of Center for Health Promotion

DETROIT – Bethany Thayer, R.D., M.S., has been appointed director of Henry Ford Health System’s Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (CHPDP).

The CHPDP was established in 1995 and works in partnership with health care professionals, individuals and communities to improve the health of the public through research, evaluating health risk reduction and understanding human behavior.

Thayer, a registered dietitian who previously served as director of Wellness Programs and Strategies, will oversee wellness-related initiatives, health professional education, and policy and advocacy activities for Henry Ford employees, patients, and community members.

A 17-year Henry Ford employee, Thayer has a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in exercise science from Oakland University. She was recently named Outstanding Dietitian of the Year by the Michigan Dietetic Association.
