Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon bacon bits (such as Oscar Mayer Real Bacon Bits)
  • 2 (15.8 ounce) cans great northern beans
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons barbeque sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard

Instructions

Place canola oil in a nonstick skillet and sauté onions and bacon bits until onions are tender, about 5 minutes. Rinse and drain the beans in a colander. In an oven safe casserole dish, mix tomato puree, brown sugar, barbeque sauce, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar and dry mustard. Add beans and onion mixture and gently stir. Bake covered at 350°F for 60 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Remove cover, stir and bake uncovered for about 20 to 30 minutes more.
