Digital Mammography

A mammogram is one of the most important tools for the early detection of breast cancer, especially for women over the age of 40. Now, with the advancements in digital scanning technology, Henry Ford Health physicians are able to provide patients with mammograms that are more accurate than ever before.

With digital mammography, you can expect:

• Greater accuracy and detection - with improved contrast between dense and non-dense tissue
• Screening mammograms are interpreted within 48 hours of being performed, and most are read within two (2) hours
• Fast and convenient ways to obtain results. Patients are notified by letter within 48 hours. Patients also have the option of receiving results by phone or in person at the same time of the exam if they elect to schedule a same day result appointment.

All of the technologists performing mammograms at the Breast Health Center are registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with advanced level Certification. In addition, the Center has earned the "Center of Excellence" designation from the American College of Radiology.
