Specialty Programs

In addition to traditional medical services, Henry Ford Health System offers specialty programs that serve as complementary therapies scientifically proven to help patients heal, relax, sleep and feel better, and ease the side effects of treatment.

Tai Chi

This gentle form of exercise, often referred to as "meditation in motion," is an ancient art touted for its ability to relieve stress, increase strength and flexibility, and improve balance, coordination and circulation.

Tai chi’s slow and low-impact movements make it an exercise that people of all ages and fitness levels can perform.

Older patients, those with arthritis and patients recovering from a joint injury or joint replacement can especially benefit.

Massage therapy

Performed by a certified massage therapist and specifically designed to reduce anxiety, relieve pain, calm the nervous system, and improve circulation and immune system function, massage therapy provides hands-on manipulation of muscles, tendons, ligaments and other soft tissues.

Massage therapy is a private-pay service, meaning it is not covered by insurance. Periodic specials and packages are available.
