Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) treats every patient with dignity, respect and compassion. Patients can look to HFHS for fair pricing of the medical services it provides and for assistance with finding options to help manage their medical costs.
You may be eligible for help with your medical bill through our Patient Financial Assistance Program (PFAP).
You may qualify for a discount
If the cost of your care becomes too much for you to pay, Henry Ford Health System offers discounts that may help. We have a discounted rate for our uninsured patients that substantially lowers out of pocket costs overall. We have other discounts for both insured and uninsured patients who show financial need and/or have a large HFHS medical debt.
To learn more about our PFAP and the criteria needed to qualify, review the following documents:
- Patient Financial Assistance Program Policy (available in other languages)
- PFAP Plain Language Summary (available in other languages)
Doctors and other providers who participate
If you qualify for financial assistance, then all eligible hospital and provider charges will be assessed for a discount. Many providers may participate in your care, but only charges billed by the following providers may be eligible for assistance.
- All Henry Ford Medical Group providers
- All providers employed by:
- Henry Ford Allegiance Health
- Henry Ford Macomb Hospital
- Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital
- Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital
- Providers contracted and billed by Henry Ford Health System for their services
There are providers that may have offices within HFHS locations or that may provide services within HFHS facilities who are not part of the above listed groups. This may include services such as labs, radiology interpretations, etc. These providers may not provide financial assistance, and you may receive a separate bill from them.
If you are unsure if your provider is part of the above covered groups, please contact your provider’s office.
How to apply for financial assistance
In order to qualify for PFAP you will need to complete our Patient Financial Assistance Application (available in other languages). Once completed, return the form, proof of your household income, and proof of your residency or citizenship to a Henry Ford Health System facility. You have up to 240 days after you receive your first bill to apply. Once HFHS receives your completed application, you will be provided with a decision in writing within 30 days.
Completed applications and supporting documents should be mailed or faxed to the facility where you received care:
