Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Course

The practice of faith community nursing (FCN) is considered a calling in which ministry shapes the practice and requires specialized knowledge and skills to implement professional standards. The practice of FCN encourages a partnership model between faith community nurses, individuals, families, faith communities, and greater communities across the lifespan.

This course prepares nurses to serve in this specialty practice.

Every Wednesday: 10/8/25-12/3/25
Times: 8 am - 12 pm or 5 pm - 9 pm
Method of Instruction: Virtual using Teams

Additional details:

• 2 sessions will be offered each day. The content will be the same in the morning as it is in the evening for that day. You choose which time works best for your schedule. If you miss a day, you will have the opportunity to make it up at in the future.
• Current Faith Community Nurses, registered nurses, LPNs, Non-nurses, Faith Leaders, and retired nurses are welcome to take the course.
• All faith traditions are welcome.
• The $500 course fee is waived as a benefit of membership in Henry Ford Health Faith Community Nursing Network (congregational agreement on file within 1 year of course).
• Content for this course is based on the 5th edition of curriculum developed by the Westberg Institute.
• Participants must sign-in virtually at the beginning of each session, attend the entire activity, and participate in learning activities to earn their nursing contact hours.
• Participants must purchase their own manual prior to course beginning. Details will be sent via email.
• Up to 36.5 nursing contact hours are available.
• Henry Ford Health is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
