In this 4th annual conference, we offer content across the ICU experience spectrum. From the novice therapist in the ICU to those with advanced ICU practice, we provide information to enhance the delivery of care in this environment for all experience levels through a live virtual format.
Effective Rounding and Medical Record Review. Using the Information You Have to Maximize Your Early Rehab Program: This course is designed to provide the learner with information that will help them implement strategies to create and sustain effective delivery of care in the intensive care unit. We will review critical thinking skills that will help the provider to analyze the patients' medical course, identify potential barriers to treatment and use their findings to effectively communicate with the multidisciplinary team. Information providing recommendations for maximizing the efficiency of physician and therapist rounding will also be provided.
Facilitating Engagement with Creative Patient-Centered Treatment Ideas: This course is designed to provide the learner with evidence regarding the importance of providing patient centered treatment sessions in the Medical ICU as well as the impact patient and family engagement has on patient outcomes. This course will also address the barriers and challenges that the treating OT and PT face with patient willingness to engage and strategies to overcome some of these challenges.
Advanced Circulatory Devices: The purpose of this course is to help therapists gain knowledge of the cardiopulmonary devices used in critical care including their indications, uses and resulting precautions. Also included is a discussion of treatment techniques for Occupational and physical therapists that optimize patients recovery, helping them to regain strength and functional independence.
Trauma & Surgery Critical Care: This course will provide evidence and treatment strategies for providing therapeutic intervention in the trauma and surgery ICU environment. We will review common barriers and creative strategies, and we will promote the framework of trauma-informed care to better understand patients and provide more compassionate and empathetic care.
