Enhancing Your Care with Virtual Nursing Support

Welcome to enhanced, compassionate care

Virtual nursing: A new layer of support for you

At Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, your safety, comfort, and well-being are at the heart of everything we do. To provide the most compassionate and comprehensive care possible, we’ve expanded your care team to include a virtual nurse—bringing you added support, connection, and peace of mind throughout your stay.

What Is a virtual nurse?

A virtual nurse is a licensed nurse who connects with you through your in-room TV using secure video technology similar to a FaceTime or Zoom call. This allows us to stay closely connected and provide consistent, high-quality care without replacing your bedside care team.

How does virtual nursing work?

  • A sensor near your TV enables secure, real-time connection with the virtual nurse.
  • When a virtual nurse checks in, your screen turns gray, and their name appears.
  • The virtual nurse will introduce themselves and ask for your permission before starting a two-way video visit.
  • If you’re not ready, you can ask to talk later.

Your privacy is our priority

  • The camera is only active during a virtual visit.
  • It automatically turns OFF when the visit ends.
  • No video or images are ever recorded or stored.

The benefits of virtual nursing

  • Added layer of support – Virtual nurses assist with routine checks, education, and coordination of care so bedside nurses can focus more time on hands-on support.
  • Faster responses – With more eyes on your care, your needs can be met more quickly.
  • Clear communication – Get answers to your questions in real-time from a trusted member of your care team.
  • Continuity and comfort – Virtual nurses provide consistent check-ins, helping you feel informed and cared for every step of the way.

We’re all here for you

Your virtual nurse is here to enhance—not replace—your care. Together with your bedside team, we’re committed to delivering the most compassionate, personalized experience possible.

If you have questions at any time, just ask a member of your care team. We’re here for you.
