Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital Achieves New American College of Radiology Accreditation

WYANDOTTE - Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital is the first in the state of Michigan, and one of only three in the country, to achieve the new Diagnostic Imaging Centers of Excellence (DICOE) with Distinction accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR). Henry Ford Health Center-Brownstown and Henry Ford Medical Center-Taylor are included under this accreditation.

The DICOE with Distinction accreditation was established by the ACR in November 2025 to recognize imaging facilities that demonstrate outstanding performance and maintain the highest quality practices and diagnostic care. It sets new elevated benchmarks for facilities to achieve since the program started in 2013 as a designation beyond the standard American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation. 

Receiving DICOE with Distinction involves an intensive evaluation that looks at patient safety practices, diagnostic care, and quality improvement. A facility must demonstrate outstanding performance in numerous advanced domains, such as:

• Elite-quality imaging across all modalities
• Strong safety and radiation management
• Patient-centered operations
• Robust quality improvement systems
• Well-documented protocols and standards

The team at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital underwent an eight-month process to prepare for their on-site review from ACR.
