Henry Ford Rehab CEU: Foundations of Early Rehab A Research Review
Course Description: This one-hour recorded webinar will review the basics of using literature and evidence-based practice as the foundation for patient care. Evidence for early mobilization and rehabilitation in the critical care setting will be presented.
Course Objectives
- Demonstrate an understanding of how evidence in current literature affects health care practice.
- Access professional literature databases through various resources.
- Distinguish between sources of evidence available (randomized control trials, observational studies, systematic reviews).
- Identify foundational research articles specific to early mobility and early rehabilitation in the critical care hospital setting.
Presenter: Adele Myszenski, MPT is a 2001 graduate of Wayne State University and will complete her doctorate in August 2021. As supervisor at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, Adele has led initiatives to expand value-based services of PT and OT and since 2015 has included creating of a structural heart pathway and an early rehab program that now serves over 200 ICU beds across the system. Adele is responsible for creation, development and implementation of competencies across the service line for lab values, ICU, VAD and other areas. An accomplished speaker, she has provided sessions at APTA’s CSM for 6 years, MPTA Fall conference and APTA State Forum, as well as webinars for PT.com, OT.com and PTLocker via MPTA. Current areas of research include: early rehabilitation in the critical care patient, transcatheter aortic valve replacement and the impact of PT and OT on patients with COVID-19 which is funded by a 2021 Foundation of PT Research Acute Care grant.
