Michigan-based UV Angel Clean Air™ technology comes to Jackson and Wyandotte hospitals

Grand Haven MI-based UV Partners is installing its UV Angel Clean Air™ air disinfection system that uses UV-C light to continuously neutralize airborne pathogens at two Henry Ford Health hospitals.

In 2023 UV Partners secured a competitive $5 million grant from the State of Michigan for Henry Ford Health to install the UV Angel technology. Henry Ford Innovations then partnered with the Infection Prevention and Control Department to implement this innovative technology, which included rigorous testing and evaluation. UV Angel units are currently being installed at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital and Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, with the goal of continued expansion to other Henry Ford facilities.

UV Angel’s platform, independent of HVAC systems, uses UV-C light, advanced sensors, and data analytics to neutralize viruses, bacteria, and fungi in air and on surfaces to potentially reduce disease transmission risks. Easily installed in ceiling fixtures, it targets high-traffic areas like lobbies, emergency departments, inpatient units, and surgical hallways. Trusted by leading institutions like Johns Hopkins, MD Anderson, and Stanford Medical, it ensures safer healthcare environments.

Pilot tests at Henry Ford Maplegrove Center and Henry Ford Kingswood Hospital confirmed UV Angel’s effectiveness, reducing airborne bacteria by 67% and 76%, respectively, and surface bacteria by 56% and 42% (all p<0.0001).
