Summer Youth Program – Jackson Hospital

June 8 – August 7, 2026

This volunteer program is designed for current high school students who have completed at least their freshman year. The purpose of the program is to empower teens with leadership and communication skills and provide them with exposure to the hospital environment, while they contribute to the community. This is also a great opportunity for students to gain valuable interview experience in a professional setting, as well as meaningful work experience and professional references.

The Summer Youth Program has limited spaces, so we will be selecting our participants following individual interviews with each applicant. Invitation-only, mandatory orientation and training will be scheduled during the week of June 8-12. Selected participants will receive additional details regarding the onboarding process following their interviews.

Students who are selected for the program will work a minimum of one four-hour shift per week for eight weeks, but participants may be approved to work multiple shifts per week. Recommended age for participation is 16 years or older. We will do our best to accommodate predetermined vacations, camps or sports, but participants must commit to all assigned shifts for the entire period of the program. It will also be expected that participants communicate any scheduling conflicts in advance.

Please Note: All volunteers will be required to complete a health screening (checklist included within the application) as required by Henry Ford Health’s volunteer compliance standards. A parent/legal guardian must be present for any immunizations provided by HFJH Employee Health.

All participants in the Summer Youth Volunteer Program will receive a certificate of completion and a letter confirming their hours for use in college and scholarship applications as well as other career-prep materials.
