Newborn Care
Henry Ford Women's Health Services
The Henry Ford Women's Health Services Obstetrics team provides each woman and newborn baby special attention. While in the hospital after delivery, our team makes sure mother and baby are healthy, and we help with mother-infant bonding to help ease the transition to home care. Our team of nurses provides assistance to new mothers to learn how to breastfeed or bottle-feed, and we offer in-hospital classes for learning how to bathe and dress the new baby.
Postpartum check-up visits for the new mother occur at 2 weeks after delivery for C-section births and at 6 weeks after delivery for vaginal births. Henry Ford obstetricians and certified nurse midwives work closely with pediatricians to assure every new mother finds ongoing care for the newborn baby's continued health and development.
