Virtual Behavioral Health

Comprehensive treatment options available from home

We understand that behavioral health care is not one-size-fits-all. Whether you need help managing addiction, anxiety or depression, we are here for you when, where and how you need us. That’s why we offer virtual care options for behavioral health that allow you to have a scheduled video visit with your doctor or therapist using your smartphone, tablet or computer from wherever you are.

To find out if virtual care is right for you, call (800) 422-1183 or send a MyChart message to your provider.

Personalized assessment and treatment planning

All treatment starts with a personalized assessment with a licensed therapist or doctor so we can get to know you. This may be done over a video visit or an in-office visit. During your assessment, you’ll talk about your health concerns and share your personal and medical history. Your provider will recommend a treatment plan that is best for you, which may include virtual care options.

How does virtual behavioral health care work?

Most virtual care is provided through Henry Ford MyChart scheduled video visits. During a scheduled video visit, you speak with your therapist or doctor at a reserved time using your smartphone, tablet or computer using your Henry Ford MyChart account. It works exactly like Skype or Facetime. It is completely secure and easy to use. See how a video visit works.

Is virtual behavioral health care right for me?

Virtual behavioral health care is not an option for everyone, but for many it works well. Many patients enjoy the convenience and flexibility of having appointments from the comfort of their home or office. You may be a good candidate for virtual outpatient treatment if you:

  • Are unable to leave the house or have difficulty traveling to our clinic for appointments
  • Have a stable, supportive home environment
  • Use relatively low amounts of addictive substances and are able to stop using on your own

After your evaluation, we may recommend a more intensive approach, including residential addiction care, partial hospitalization programs or inpatient psychiatric treatment if we feel you would benefit from this type of care environment.

Are behavioral health video visits covered by insurance?

The cost of a video visit is the same as a regular behavioral health visit and is covered by most health plans. Please contact your insurance company to determine if your plan will cover this type of care. Depending on your insurance, you may be responsible for a copay or deductible.
