This innovative method of delivering care expands access and offers a quick, effective way of connecting with your health care team for those patients unable to come to a physical location. Henry Ford was one of the first in the nation to offer this virtual vein service, which can be used for a variety of appointments, including:

  • Initial consultation (after completing testing at our vascular lab)
  • Preoperative appointments
  • Postoperative appointments
  • Follow-up vascular care

How our Virtual Vein Clinic works

Our virtual clinic uses modern technology that connects patient to physician or health care provider to deliver medical expertise in real-time:

  • Secure connection: This technology connects you to a physician or other health care provider on your team through a secure, encrypted online video connection.
  • Two-way communication: During your video conference, you can see and hear your provider and get your questions answered.
  • Easy to access: With this option, you can complete your video visit from the comfort of your home, office or wherever is most convenient via your Henry Ford MyChart account.
  • Coordinated care: All details from your virtual visit are entered into your personal medical record, so they are available the next time you see your physician.
  • Insurance: Vein telemedicine is covered by most insurances.

  • You currently have a temperature greater than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit
  • In the past 21 days, you have been diagnosed with COVID-19
  • In the past 14 days, you have had contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19
  • You are experiencing a new loss of taste and/or sense of smell
  • If you have experienced two or more of the following symptoms in the last 3 days:
    • fever
    • chills
    • drenching sweats
    • new cough
    • shortness of breath
    • body aches
    • headache
    • sore throat
    • runny nose or nasal congestion
    • nausea/vomiting/diarrhea
