Mich Miller Printmaking Workshops
This visiting artist program features two inclusive, hands-on printmaking workshops led by artist Mich Miller, offered at Henry Ford Cancer–Detroit and the Ruth Ellis Center. Open to patients, caregivers, staff, and community members of all ages and experience levels, the workshops provide opportunities for creative expression, reflection, and connection through accessible printmaking techniques.
Participants will explore contemplative, nature-inspired monotype and botanical printing, as well as linocut printmaking focused on personal expression and identity. All materials are provided at no cost, and no prior art experience is required. Together, these workshops support holistic well-being and reinforce Henry Ford Health’s commitment to inclusive, patient-centered arts programming.
About the Artist: Mich Miller (b. 1992, New York, NY) (he/they) is a Los Angeles based painter, printmaker, muralist and installation artist. Mich’s practice is informed by a commitment to abstraction and investment in color theory, printmaking, painting, graphic design, queer histories and queer theory. Mich earned their BFA from School of the Artist institute of Chicago in 2015 and received an MFA in Painting & Printmaking from Yale University in 2021. Mich’s works employ saturated color, gradients, shapes, symbols and text -referential of scientific, environmental, and cultural metaphors relevant to their trans identity. Mich’s abstractions place an emphasis on color, pattern and vibration. Their designs push for a playful ambiguity while developed through a personal and in-depth research practice. In 2018 they co-founded The Print Shop LA—a collaborative printmaking studio in Los Angeles, which offers internship opportunities, collaborative studio access and artists-in-residence programs.

Monotypes and Botanical Printmaking
This workshop focuses on the contemplative practice of monotype printmaking and nature-inspired stamp making. Participants will explore bubble printing, a technique in which colored bubbles are blown onto paper to create soft, layered textures, and botanical stamping, which uses leaves, flowers, and other natural materials to produce delicate, organic patterns. These methods create atmospheric washes and rich layers of texture and contrast. By combining and layering these techniques, attendees will produce refined, nature-centered compositions while engaging in a process-focused, creative printmaking experience.
Workshop will take place in the 1st floor Multipurpose Room.
