About Me
Biographical Statement
Scott Kizy, MD, FACS, is a complex surgical oncologist within the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit. He completed his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Michigan. He completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN. He completed his fellowship in complex general surgery oncology at Moffitt Cancer in Tampa, FL. He has a particular interest in patients with pancreatic and hepatobiliary malignancies, gastrointestinal malignancies, and sarcoma.
Care Philosophy
As a surgical oncologist, I specialize in the surgical care of cancer patients. I work as a part of a multidisciplinary care team devoted to the treatment and cure of cancer. Being an oncology provider, I value the long-lasting relationships with patients and their family. I feel it is an honor to be a part of a patient's journey during this challenging time. I pledge to care for all patients as if they are my own family.
Research Interests
During his career, Dr. Kizy's primary research interests focused on understanding the biology of cancer cachexia. He has also studied the effects of gut bacteria on surgical outcomes and health. Lastly, he has experience studying cancer and surgery outcomes utilizing large datasets.
