Treatment Planning and Plan Adaptation
The MR in radiation therapy team, lead by Dr. Glide-Hurst, explores the fundamental requirements for accurate integration of MRI into treatment planning. The key areas of inquiry include:
The quantification, evaluation, and correction of patient-specific and machine-level distortions that can reduce the geometric accuracy of MR images.
The development and validation of a synthetic CT derived from MR data to use in lieu of conventional CT scans to take advantage of MRI's superior soft tissue contrast without introducing additional image registration uncertainties into the planning process.
The clinical implementation of MR-SIM, including development and optimization of clinical protocols, validating motion management strategies (i.e. 4DMRI), and clinical trials to enhance the utility of MRI in Radiation Oncology.
