About Me

Biographical Statement:

Dr. Shill received her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Michigan and her fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Shill enjoys seeing people with all types of endocrine conditions, from adolescence to advanced age. Her special interests in Endocrinology include diabetes, diabetes in pregnancy and preparing for a pregnancy with diabetes, helping women with diabetes and other endocrine disorders successfully breastfeed, and transgender medicine.

She loves to share her passion for endocrinology and diabetes by teaching medical students, residents in internal medicine, and fellows pursuing endocrinology and diabetes as their specialty. Since 2011, she has maintained an active role in the planning committee for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Southeastern Michigan annual conference (the largest and most successful JDRF conference in the country).

Dr. Shill enjoys spending time with her husband and son, watching her son’s soccer games, fantasizing about doing ballet and being in her favorite musical theater productions, singing, dancing and reading.

Care Philosophy:

I am particularly dedicated to patient care and enjoy forming a team with my patients to improve their health. I strive to educate and involve my patients in their care. I believe that with my help, when patients understand their condition better, address obstacles, and take an active role in their well-being, that they develop a strong sense of empowerment and find success.

Awards and Honors:

Dr. Shill received several awards in medical school and graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. She has published in the peer-reviewed literature, in such journals as Diabetes Care and Diabetes. She was invited to be the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Co-Chair for the 7th annual Southeastern Michigan conference (2014).
