Program Curriculum
The Residency Program is fully accredited by ACGME and is affiliated with Wayne State University School of Medicine, Central Michigan University, and St. George’s University.
The Program is a 3-year program (PGY1 through PGY3) and is approved for 12 positions per year.

Residents are required to complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support & Pediatric Advanced Life Support Courses prior to their Intern year.
Medical Students from our affiliates, Wayne State University School of Medicine, Central Michigan University and St. George’s University rotate in the Emergency Department during their Senior Year.
Didactics:
- Emergency Medicine weekly Lecture, Thursday 10am-3pm (5 hours/wk)
- EM/Surgery monthly Trauma Conferences
- Quarterly Journal Club
- Daily Noon Lectures (varieious Specialties & Pediatrics) Monday – Friday (1 hour)
- Wayne State University Conferences including quarterly Toxicology Conferences
- Quarterly Morbidity and Mortality Conferences
- Simulation
- Quarterly Procedure & Oral Board Stations
- CPC in the D
- Ultrasound Curriculum and hands-on Didactics (Sonocup Champs 2025)

Other possibilities, even outside of the state, will be considered based upon their applicability to Emergency Medicine and approved by the Program Director.
Residents will be required to complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support Courses early in their first year. These courses will be provided by Henry Ford St. John Hospital.
Medical students from Wayne State University School of Medicine, Central Michigan University and St. George's University rotate in the ED during their senior year. Rotators from other medical schools, both juniors and seniors, are encouraged and welcome although we have a limited number of positions.
