Henry Ford St. John Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program
The Department of Pharmacy at Henry Ford St. John Hospital has been training pharmacy residents since 1991. Our 714-bed hospital, located in Detroit near the border of Grosse Pointe, provides a unique mix of urban and suburban experiences.
We offer advanced clinical training across diverse specialties.
- Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Level I Adult Trauma Center
- Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
- Children’s Hospital - comprehensive neonatal and pediatric care
- Extracorporeal Life Support (ECMO) Center
Our ASHP-accredited residency program prepares pharmacists to optimize patient outcomes through drug therapy in both general and specialized clinical practice settings. We develop well-rounded practitioners with the knowledge and leadership skills necessary to advance the practice of pharmacy.

PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Purpose Statement
PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency program builds on pharmacy education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for PGY-2 pharmacy residency training.
Our program produces well-rounded and independent pharmacists:
- Foster the appropriate and effective use of medications
- Educate patients, caregivers, and health care professionals
- Exercise leadership in improving the safety of the medication-use system
Annual salary: Approximately $54,000
