About our medical education programs

Macomb County is part of the greater Metro Detroit area, located just north of the city. This proximity to one of the largest urban centers in the country gives residents of Macomb easy access to a wide range of regional and cultural amenities while maintaining a save and affordable suburban lifestyle. Our Macomb Hospital has a new 5 story patient building, bringing our bed count to 366. This hospital admits more than 25,000 patients annually. A few highlights of our health system include:

  • Level II Trauma Center
  • Over 62,000 ER visits and 12,000 Surgeries
  • Structural Heart Disease Center offering TAVR, PFO closure and WATCHMANTM implants
  • AHA and Joint Commission certified Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center
  • A 17-bed family friendly Birthing Center and special care nursery with neonatologists
  • Center for Joint Replacement (Joint Commission certified)
  • State-of-the-art radiation therapy featuring the TrueBeamTM system, including HDR and brachytherapy and the Varian EthosTM system equipped with HyperSight including adaptive therapy

Applying for a residency

ERAS, the Electronic Residency Application Service, handles applications for our programs at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. To apply, visit the centralized online application service.

Information for visiting residents

If you’re interested in a becoming a visiting resident, your application must be approved by the department no later than 75 days in advance of a requested rotation. Please email Robin Chastain at rchasta1@hfhs.org to obtain a Visiting House Officer Application.
