The Henry Ford Macomb Hospital (HFMH) Osteopathic General Surgery Program is a five-year curriculum of graded responsibility progressing to complete and definitive care of the general surgical patient.
The HFMH Osteopathic General Surgery Residency Program curriculum has been constructed around the requirements set forth in the AOA and ACOS Basic Standards. Every resident will be scheduled for required rotations at HFMH Clinton Township, Henry Ford Hospital, Sinai-Grace Hospital, Beaumont Hospitals, and The Children's Medical Center of Dayton. We have an extraordinarily detailed curriculum manual that defines the goals and objectives of each individual rotation. This manual includes reading requirements in reputable textbooks, as well as well-respected journal articles. Educational conferences are held 4 times a week at the Macomb campus one of which is led by medical students so all team members are involved. Residents are also scheduled for courses in the HFHS Simulation Center.
The program includes mandatory rotations as well as a variety of elective rotations on services under the direction of the Departments of General Surgery. Recognizing that residents have varied backgrounds and goals, the program includes opportunity for approved out-rotation elective experiences as well.
