Internal Medicine Curriculum

The Henry Ford Macomb Internal Medicine Residency Program curriculum follows all of the requirements for training from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) common standards. The program was accredited by the ACGME on July 1, 2015.

The Ambulatory continuity training is scheduled throughout the residency as one half-day session per week to occur throughout the residency training program

PGY1 curriculum

  • 5 Months of IM Floor
  • 1 Month of IM Night Float
  • 2 Months of ICU
  • 1 Month of Cardiology
  • 1 Month of ER
  • 1 Month of Radiology

PGY2 curriculum

  • 3 Months of IM Floor
  • 1 Month of IM Night Float
  • 2 Month of ICU
  • 5 Months of Electives
  • 1 Month of Continuity Clinic

PGY3 curriculum

  • 3 Months IM Floor*
  • 1 Month of IM Night Float
  • 2 Month ICU
  • 1 Month Geriatrics
  • 5 Months of Electives

Mandatory electives (Must complete 1 month of each by graduation): Cardiology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Infectious Diseases, Hematology/Oncology, and Rheumatology

Non-mandatory electives: Electrophysiology, Allergy, Dermatology, Palliative care, additional Continuity Clinic month, Medical ICU (downtown), non-operative orthopedics, Physical Medicine and Rehab, ENT, Psychiatry, and Ophthalmology
