Curriculum
The Podiatric curriculum is designed to provide comprehensive training rotations resulting in a high level of competency in Podiatric Surgery. The program provides technical and academic opportunities through challenging rotations and didactics.

Rotations

Rotations are scheduled in 13 Blocks of 4 weeks each

PGY 1

  • Podiatric Medicine & Surgery - 34 weeks
  • Infectious Disease – 4 weeks
  • Behavioral Medicine – 2 weeks
  • Emergency Medicine – 4 weeks
  • Internal Medicine – 4 weeks
  • Medical Imaging – 2 weeks
  • Anesthesia – 2 weeks

PGY 2

  • Podiatric Medicine & Surgery – 42 weeks
  • Vascular Surgery – 4 weeks
  • Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation – 2 weeks
  • Orthopedic Surgery – 2 weeks
  • Plastic Surgery – 2 weeks

PGY 3

  • Podiatric Medicine & Surgery (Focusing on Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery) – 52 weeks

A Wound Care Rotation is scheduled sequentially over the three-year program.

Didactics

Multiple didactic activities are required including ACFAS research poster/abstract, ACFAS Michigan Division surgical presentations, MPMA consortium, MPMA abstract competition, radiology reviews, journal clubs, board reviews, monthly cadaveric dissection labs, podiatric skill workshops, and practice management.
