Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency

The PGY2 pharmacy residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge into the provision of patient care that improves medication therapy. Residents who successfully complete PGY2 residency programs are prepared for advanced patient care or other specialized positions, and board certification in the advanced practice area.

Pharmacists completing the Emergency Medicine PGY2 Pharmacy Residency at Henry Ford Hospital are qualified for clinical pharmacy specialist positions within a broad range of emergency medicine practice settings. Graduates will be proficient in the education of students, patients, and other health care professionals and will be competent in conducting and applying practice-based research.

The PGY2 Emergency Medicine Residency program is in precandidate status per the ASHP regulations.
