How to Get Started with Video Visits On Demand:

All video visits are conducted securely through Henry Ford MyChart. Follow the step-by-step instructions listed below or download a quick guide for more detailed information:

If you are using a smartphone or tablet, follow these instructions instead.

Step 1: Access your MyChart account

Yes, I have a Henry Ford MyChart account.

Login to MyChart and follow the instructions for device you’re using below.

No, I do not have a Henry Ford MyChart account.

1. Call 313-874-7526
2. Once connected, let the advocate know you would like to sign up for MyChart so you can do a video visit. They will ask you for demographic/insurance information and create a unique Henry Ford medical record number (MRN) for you, if you don’t have one.
3. The advocate will send you an e-mail with a link and an activation code to sign up for a Henry Ford MyChart.
4. Once you receive the email with your MyChart activation code, click on the link or go to henryford.com/mychart. Click on “Activate Your Account” and enter your activation code, MRN and date of birth.
5. You will be prompted to create a username and password for future access to your Henry Ford MyChart account.
6. Now you’re ready to start your video visit using MyChart.

Step 2: Begin your Video Visit

What to do once you’ve logged into MyChart with a desktop or laptop computer:

If you are connecting via computer or laptop, you MUST use either Internet Explorer or Google Chrome as your web browser.

1. Navigate to www.henryford.com/mychart
2. Click on “log in to MyChart” on the right navigation
3. Under “Visits,” choose Video Visit On Demand (Primary Care Now).
4. Follow the prompts to select your location and the reason for your visit.
5. Choose “Computer” when asked about what device you are using for the visit. You can choose the option to “Test Hardware” to make sure the camera, microphone, and speaker work properly. (A download of a “video plug-in” may be necessary. See directions for the plug-in below.)
6. Select “Put me in line.”
7. To eCheck-in, verify your personal information including insurance, current medications, allergies and current health issues.
8. Choose to “Begin Video Visit” right away and be placed in a virtual waiting roomor choose to get a notification when the doctor is ready.
9. Once the doctor joins the visit, they will appear, on your screen while you appear in a smaller box. You can begin speaking with the doctor.
10. Once your visit is over, close the video screen.

How to Install the Video Plug-in for Desktop/Laptop:

For Internet Explorer (IE)

1. Access the video visit by clicking on "Begin Video Visit."
2. The video will launch in a separate window. If the VidyoWeb video plug-in is not downloaded, a message will appear in the video window. Click “Download VidyoWeb plug-in.”
3. The download will begin and a popup box will appear along the bottom of the screen. Click "Run."
4. Once the download is complete, the hardware check of your camera, microphone, speakers and network connection will begin. As each item is checked, a green box will appear.
5. After the hardware check is complete, the video will connect.

For Google Chrome

1. Access the video visit by clicking on "Begin Video Visit."
2. The video will launch in a separate window. If the VidyoWeb video plug-in is not downloaded, a message will appear in the video window. Click “Install VidyoWeb extension.”
3. A separate VidyoWebConnector box will opens. Click “Add to Chrome” and then select “Add extension” when prompted.
4. Click the X to close the alert letting you know that VidyoWebConnector has been added to Chrome.
5. Click "Download VidyoWeb plugin."
6. Once this has downloaded, close the black box.
7. Return to MyChart and click "Begin Video Visit."
