When you're craving something sweet, one of the healthiest options is to grab some fresh fruit. It provides way more vitamins, fiber and antioxidants than your average cookie or cupcake, but is low in calories and saturated fat. 

This simple recipe elevates ripe peaches to a more decadent dessert at the end of a meal. Grilling the peaches softens the fruit, enhances the sweetness and allows the surface to caramelize -- adding another level of flavor and texture. A perfect little dollop of cream cheese sweetened with honey and cinnamon, plus chopped pecans, completes the dish.

Definitely give this recipe a try while the peaches are still in season! You could also easily use nectarines in this recipe, if you prefer.

Grilled Honey Peaches

Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients:

2 Tablespoons honey
4 ounces fat-free cream cheese
2 teaspoons cinnamon
4 firm ripe peaches, halved, stones removed
1 Tablespoon canola oil
2 Tablespoons chopped pecans

Directions:

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. In a small bowl, mix honey, cream cheese and cinnamon. Brush peach halves with a light coating of oil. Place cut side down on the grill and cook for 5 minutes. Turn peaches over and place a Tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the middle of each peach half. Grill for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from grill and sprinkle pecans on top. Serve immediately.
