About Me

Care Philosophy:
I strive to assist each person in developing the confidence needed to achieve independence from alcohol or drugs. My practice provides knowledge in an understanding way to patients and their families in a comforting, non-judgmental, patient-centered environment. My goal is to provide the most up to date evidence-based treatment through a combination of medical and biopsychosocial approaches with patients.

Biographical Statement:
Dr. Gilly received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He obtained his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed a family practice residency at St. Paul Hospital in Texas. He has been Board Certified in Family Medicine since 1985 and Addiction Medicine since 2010.

Dr. Gilly practiced office-based primary care for more than 20 years before transitioning to addiction medicine full-time in 2007.  He joined Henry Ford Behavioral Health Services in 2011, and became a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Wayne State in 2014. He lectures regularly to medical students, residents, fellows, and is often an invited speaker at local, regional, and national meetings.

Research Interests:
Defining and measuring recovery and correlating treatment levels of care with recovery outcomes.
