Preference Signaling Information for Applicants
ERAS Preference Signals:
We aim to utilize ERAS program preference signals as an indicator of applicant interest while maintaining a fair and holistic review process that identifies the strongest candidates for interview.
Program preference signals are used to prioritize application review but are not the sole determinant of interview eligibility. They are not considered in the post-interview ranking process.
While our program is in an urban setting in the East North Central region, we generally do not consider geographic or setting preferences when reviewing applications.
Core Principles:
- Preference signals represent expressed interest, not applicant quality.
- All applicants remain eligible for interview consideration regardless of signal status.
- Holistic review remains the foundation of interview selection.
