About Our Program

The Henry Ford St. John Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency Program is dedicated to developing highly skilled Emergency Medicine physicians who are committed to serving all individuals, with particular emphasis on those who are poor and vulnerable. We cultivate these exceptional physicians through a foundation of service, reverence, compassion, integrity, and respect for the dignity and diversity of every life. These core values guide our training and ensure that our residents embody the highest standards of care and professionalism.

Our program is designed to provide a rich, hands-on patient care experience, balancing autonomy with guidance, and offering extensive procedural opportunities. In addition to clinical excellence, we emphasize robust didactics, leadership development, and a strong sense of camaraderie within a family-like, supportive environment.

Through this combination of rigorous clinical training and a nurturing, collaborative atmosphere, our residents are equipped to excel in any clinical or professional setting, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the challenges of Emergency Medicine with skill, confidence, and compassion.

We recognize the demanding nature of emergency medicine and are dedicated to supporting the well-being and resilience of our residents. Our program offers mentorship, wellness initiatives, and a balanced work-life environment to ensure our residents thrive both professionally and personally. We believe that effective emergency care requires collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. Our residents work closely with specialists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare providers, ensuring they develop strong communication skills and the ability to function seamlessly in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
