Enrollment/Period: 1 maximum, upon availability, pre-approval required
Prerequisite: Required General Medicine and Surgery core clerkships
Clerkship Objectives:
- Enhance knowledge and skills pertaining to interviewing, physical examination, or patient interactions, interpretation of data, clinical judgment, therapy and advice to patients.
- Increase student involvement in conferences, journal clubs.
- Increase student use/review of the medical literature.
Evaluation:
- Quality of care given
- Participation and performance in conferences
- Level of knowledge
- Level of skills
Methods to be used in student evaluation:
- Observation of performance by faculty and house officers
- Assessment of write-ups/reports
Description:
Radiation Oncology is a specialty involving the use of external beam radiation therapy, brachytherapy and radiosurgery in the treatment of diseases of various parts of the body, usually malignant tumors. The student is expected to become familiar with certain aspects of the natural history, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of various malignancies.
