Stay safe from the heat
Heat-related illnesses are common in the summer when the temperatures rise. Your body must work harder to cool down. You become dehydrated more quickly and you might notice your heart rate quickening. Common signs of heat-related illnesses include:
- Excessive sweating
- Rapid heartbeat
- Changes in mental status, such as agitation, confusion and bizarre behavior
- Seizures
- Headache
- Lightheadedness
- Nausea and vomiting
- Muscle cramps
Your primary care doctor can help you manage heat-related risks and recognize warning signs.
