Curriculum and Rotations
Fellows are required to undergo the following rotations during the course of their training. The PD meets with the fellows to elective options during the fellow general orientation for selection of elective rotations and at the 6-month semi-annual review
Cardiothoracic Fellows Schedule/Requirements consists of the following:
- 6 months of OR anesthetic management
- cases with CPB
- valve repair/replacement
- CABG with or without CPB
- adult congenital procedure
- manage IABP, LVAD, RVAD, BVAD
- perioperative echocardiographic complete examination and intraoperative TEE examination (personally performed, interpreted and reported)
- thoracic non-cardiac surgical procedures (15)
- 1-month Cardiac ICU
- 2 weeks TEE Laboratory (elective)
- 2 weeks of elective rotations in any of the following areas:
- Electrophysiology Laboratory (2 weeks)
- Adult Heart Failure (2 weeks)
- Pediatrics (4 weeks, optional)
