virtual care At Henry Ford, we are dedicated to offering all patients leading-edge medical care and meeting the challenge of making it affordable. As a System, we examine our processes to make them as efficient as possible and look for innovative ways to add value to the organization. Our aim is to offer our patients the most advanced treatment options available, and to position Henry Ford so it can manage the cost of care now and in the future.

Henry Ford patients saved 71,664 miles, or 83.7 days of drive time through Virtual Care in 2017.

“This was an opportunity for me to further my health in a way that didn’t interfere with my life as much. I think really the thing that I was most happy with was the opportunity to do it, because I could not have done this if I had had to go elsewhere to have my rehab session,” says Schacht.

“Virtual visits are an option for many of my student patients that live outside of the area and cannot always make it home for a clinic visit. Appointments are scheduled within specific blocks of time through MyChart,” says Jennifer Burgess, D.O., telemedicine physician, Department of Family Medicine, Henry Ford Medical Center - Commerce Township.

Dr. Burgess and her colleague Emmanuel Dizon, M.D., telemedicine physician, Department of Internal Medicine, Henry Ford Medical Center – Fairlane, discuss Virtual Care and its benefits for both patients and providers in this video.

“These visits are ideal for a wide range of patients with logistical difficulties. Virtual Care helps people to keep appointments they might otherwise have to cancel,” says Dr. Burgess.
