Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer
Henry Ford Health System
Seth Frazier was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of Henry Ford Health System in 2017. In this role, Frazier is responsible for the overall strategic planning and direction for the health system. His areas include, but are not limited to, strategic marketing including research and advertising, performance analytics and improvement, government relations and Henry Ford Innovations. Frazier also works closely with the clinical staff as well as physician and administrative leaders to help Henry Ford Health System navigate the constantly changing marketplace.
Prior to joining Henry Ford Health System, Seth served as the Chief Transformation Officer for Evolent Health in Arlington, Virginia. In this role, Frazier was responsible for the leadership of large-scale client population health initiatives, which included strategic redesign, physician alignment structures, population health clinical programming, market assessments and strategies, and multi-system alliance development.
Frazier has extensive experience with academic medical centers and integrated health systems. From 2008 - 2011, he partnered with physicians to drive clinical innovation culminating his tenure as Chief Transformation Officer at Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania. He provided business leadership to a wide range of initiatives, including improving capacity utilization through predictive modeling, ProvenCare and Transitions of Care. Frazier co-led a system-wide improvement initiative that generated $115 million in annual financial improvement, while improving quality metrics for mortality, infections and length of stay.
Prior to Geisinger, he was the Senior Vice President of Strategic Services for The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). At CHOP, his responsibilities included strategic planning and business development for strategic projects, including Proton Therapy, centers of excellence contracting and patient channel decision support. Before assuming the strategy role, he held executive responsibility for a successful regional pediatric network managing a capitated commercial and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) population with a large regional HMO.
Seth’s experience also includes serving as a partner in the health care strategic consulting firm of APM, Inc.
Frazier received his master's degree in business administration from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania as a Kaiser Fellow and his bachelor's degree in economics (honors) from Haverford College.
He is married to Gale Thompson, a leadership coach, and has a daughter heading to college in the fall. He is an avid basketball and tennis fan, traveler and reader. He is passionate about cities, having lived in Philadelphia, New York and Washington, D.C., and is very excited to be in Detroit.
