2/22 and 2/24: Medicine Safety for Caregivers
Description: Participants will learn safe medication storage, disposal, and management tips from a Henry Ford Health System Pharmacist, Amy Argyris, Pharm.D., BCPS, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Drug Information. Following her graduation from Wayne State University in 2005, Amy completed two years of pharmacy residency training, specializing in internal medicine, at WVU Medicine in Morgantown, West Virginia. Throughout her career, Amy has had a great deal of experience in teaching pharmacy students and residents as an assistant professor for Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana and an internal medicine pharmacist at the Detroit Medical Center.
3/22 and 3/24: Estate Planning 101
Description: Participants will learn from a private practice attorney and Emergency Preparedness Specialist of Henry Ford Health System, Dennis G. Whittie, MPA, JD, PEM, AEMT, about the various aspects of estate planning including financial scams, banking tips, mortgage tips, what to know about wills, trusts, and more.
4/26 and 4/28: Fall Prevention and Safety at Home
Description: Participants will learn from an Oakland University Professor and Henry Ford Health System Physical Therapist, Dr. Sara Arena. She will discuss home safety tips to modify your home to reduce falls. She will also discuss safe techniques to use when a fall occurs and help you develop an action plan.
5/24: The Neuroscience of Art
Description: Research has shown that we are able to change our brains and rewire neural pathways. Case studies include rehabilitation from traumatic brain injuries to lowering blood pressure and cortisol levels. Making art is so much more than a pretty picture.
