Annual Symposium

Attendees discussing poster at symposiumSince 2014, the Global Health Initiative (GHI) has hosted an annual Global Health Symposium at Henry Ford Hospital in collaboration with local academic institutions. This Symposium is a premier global health event in southeast Michigan that brings together more than 200 students, faculty, health professionals, community organizations and others interested in global and local health for underserved populations.

Each year prominent international, national, and local experts share their knowledge and expertise with symposium participants, emphasizing synergy between global and local health models. Participants play an integral part in the exchange of information through poster presentations on global health research and programs, interactive panel discussions, and networking opportunities.

Symposium themes have focused on partnerships, sustainability, capacity building and impact . Speakers have hailed from all over the world, including the Bahamas, Bangladesh, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Ghana, Haiti, Lao PDR, Mexico, Peru, Uganda and Detroit.
