Annual Symposium

symposium pageIn collaboration with local academic institutions, the Global Health Initiative (GHI) hosts an annual Global Health Symposium at Henry Ford Hospital. The Global Health Symposium is a premier global health event in Southeastern Michigan. These symposia target students, faculty, health professionals, community organizations, and other individuals interested in global and local health for underserved populations.

Past themes

2014 Symposium:

The First Annual Global Health Symposium: Building on the Power of Partnerships was held on October 10, 2014 at Henry Ford Hospital. The event brought together over 160 participants working internationally and locally to contribute to health system strengthening initiatives. This included 44 posters and 8 oral abstract presentations.

2015 Symposium:

The Second Annual Global Health Symposium: Sustainable Solutions to Improve the Health and Lives of the Underserved at Home and Abroad, held on October 16, 2015 at Henry Ford Hospital, focused on best practices for improving health through sustainable programs, interventions, and innovations. Attendance increased to 262, and the event featured 58 poster abstracts, 2 oral abstracts, and 10 invited speakers from Haiti, Peru, The Bahamas, Uganda, California, and the Detroit area.

Our 2016 Symposium

The Global Health Initiative will be hosting the 2016 Global Health Symposium: Strengthening Clinical and Research Capacity at Home and Abroad, on Friday, October 21st, 2016 at Henry Ford Hospital. Please see the brochure for more information and register here.
