Dedicated Nurse Helps Save a Life

Robin Thomas receiving Daisy awardWhen people tell Henry Ford Hospital (HFH) nurses they perform miracles, they regularly say, "It is my job." At HFH, it is each nurse's goal to do everything possible to help their patients.

Robin Thomas was nominated by an overwhelmingly grateful patient who needed a new heart. She went above and beyond to make sure this patient survived when her heart suddenly stopped. By performing CPR, Robin helped to save this patient's life. Because of her hard work, Thomas was awarded the HFH May 2018 DAISY Award.

"To react and perform with dedication and perseverance to save my life is truly an act of what makes her what she is today...a wonderful and caring nurse."

This patient was given a new heart a few days later.

"I will always remember this very special nurse," the patient said. "Thank you from the bottom of my new heart."
